Principal's Blog 19th July 2019
As the school year ends I would like to personally thank parents, staff and governors for the massive amount of kindness I have been shown in my short time at Lipson. I have been made to feel extremely welcome and have quickly felt part of the Lipson family.
As a senior team we have sent a letter of thanks to all staff to mark the end of the academic year, in recognition of the tireless work that has been put in to incorporate the hard, but necessary changes to the way things are done. These hard decisions will make such a difference to the progress and behaviour of the students here at Lipson, enabling us to get on with improving the standard of teaching and learning for all. We are genuinely excited about coming back in September to implement all the new, exciting initiatives we have to make Lipson a fantastic place to learn.
As we end the school year we wave a fond farewell to a number of teaching staff as well as a number of long serving support staff. Their contribution to Lipson over the years is greatly appreciated; whether that has been in the classroom or behind the scenes, supporting the smooth running of the school, they will all be sorely missed, in particular Mr Byrne as the long-standing head of Merchants guild.
Our Music department have been busy right up to the end of term. Our Co-operative Big Band performed in style at St Jude’s church last Friday night. Performing a concert to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre, our students really made their parents, teachers and the audience very proud. The Big Band are now looking forward to a well-deserved rest after all their recent performances.
Our last musical commitment happened in St Mary's Church for one of our feeder schools, Laira Green. Mr Martin has been working with their choir every Friday and was very proud to showcase their fantastic performance in St Mary's Church to their school governors, Principal and parents. The Laira Green choir sang with confidence and style and we are looking forward to welcoming these students to our music academy in September.
This has been a busy last term of the year with lots of amazing activities and opportunities packed in. I would like to wish you a very enjoyable and restful summer break and look forward to seeing you all in September.
Mr Brook, Interim Principal
