Headteacher's Blog 16th October 2020
After last week’s Covid related incident, it has been a very calm and settled week in school. The students have adapted quickly to the wearing of masks and the staff continue to cope superbly well with whatever is being thrown at them. Most importantly, on my regular walks around the school, classrooms have been full of students who are engaged in their learning and teachers who are continuing to provide lessons of a really high quality.
As part of our ever-changing response to the current situation, from next week the times of day will differ slightly; we will be moving to 2 x ½ hour breaks to avoid disruption to lessons from staggered breaks and to provide more places for students to sit and eat during the exam season. We will therefore have break 1 from 11-11.30am and break 2 from 1.30-2pm. At this stage, this is a temporary change aimed at easing congestion and helping us to maintain our year group bubbles.
Year 7 have had a busy start to term, not only have some of them participated in Bikeability, we also started a Year 7 Dance Academy for any students with a keen interest and passion for Dance. They have learnt about different styles of dance, so far and all students have shown an overwhelming level of enthusiasm and diligence towards their lessons. We are very much looking forward to how these Dance Academy lessons can develop and when we are able, into performances!
Reminder that students break up for half term on Thursday next week. I’m sure they will be looking forward to a well-deserved break after what has been a very busy half term. Let’s hope the weather stays as lovely as it is today.
Have a great weekend and thank you as always for your support.
