Headteacher's Blog 2nd July 2021
The main topic of conversation in my blog this week has got to be the absolutely fantastic Sports Days! This truly was a phenomenal whole school event and something that hasn’t happened here before. Over 2 days students participated in various sporting events along with mentally taxing activities to be fully inclusive. On day 1 students had the opportunity to participate in traditional track and field events, demonstrating a real competitive spirit.
The 2nd day saw the whole school out on the field getting involved. Staff and students alike took advantage of the beautiful weather to cheer on all those competing.
The selection of activities was vast with lots of different events such as Crounders, Frisbee Golf and Chariots of Fire! Not all activities were physically demanding, some gave the brain a great work out instead with Chess tournaments a plenty!
It was wonderful to see staff and students going head to head in lots of the events, particularly the Tug of War.
I’m sure you will have seen photos on social media but I’ve put in a couple of my favourites in here for you. The visit to the ice cream van was one of my top events!
Massive thanks go out to Ed Goodman and the brilliant PE team. The Sports Days really have seen Lipson at its best. It was wonderful to see all the staff and students involved and hopefully by next year we will be able to welcome parents along too. After what has been a very difficult year for our students, I think this is just what they needed.
Watch this space, from September we have exciting plans to make our wider curricular programme bigger and better, more inclusive and diverse than ever before. Exciting times ahead at Lipson.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Very best wishes,
Martin Brook, Headteacher
