Principal's Blog 21st September 2018

It has been a busy few weeks with our open events. We have welcomed nearly 250 families to Lipson over the last few weeks who have come to see what is on offer at Lipson for their child. We appreciate it is a big decision for parents and offer the opportunity to come and see us during a normal school day to ensure we are the best fit for their child. We have had many parents take us up on this already and many booked for tours in the weeks ahead. It is really great to see the interest in our school and look forward to welcoming our new families next September.

I have really enjoyed returning to my role as Principal after maternity leave and working with all involved with our school. Our staff have made my return easy - all working together with clear goals.  Our staff voice session this week was a clear testament to this and has led to some key developments.

Year 7 have made a tremendous start in their career at Lipson and have an exciting few weeks coming up. Next week, we have our very first year 7 residential taking place at Broadleas with their Heads of Guild –a real team bonding activity. Also, Bikeability takes place for those who have signed up. As a cyclist myself, cycling safety is so important and we want to ensure our students are skilled to navigate the potential dangers when cycling to and from school.  I am sure students will enjoy both activities and look forward to hearing all about them.

It’s great when ex students send me their updates. I was pleased to receive info from Chloe Howard who is over studying in Georgia state university in USA on a golf scholarship.  She has been leading many key tournaments across there and is definitely one to watch on the international circuit.

Our Big Band is hosting a concert at St Mary’s hall in Plympton on Saturday 29th September in aid of McMillan cancer charity. This will be a great event for a very worthwhile cause. Tickets are still available and can be bought from our reception.
