On Friday, we were joined by Robin Launder to lead our staff development on positive behaviour for learning strategies to further enhance our positive learning environments. It was very well received and positive feedback received from those attending. CPD is a great investment in our staff and ensures that we continually move forward in the ever changing educational climate.

Mr Boyes led a Year 11 parent workshop on Monday, guiding parents on how they can support their Year 11 student by accessing the various online revision tools available to them, as well as other fantastic resources to help get in the mind-set to be as prepared as possible for the summer exam period.

On Thursday Year 11 students and parents were invited to an advice and guidance event.  The evening was an opportunity for students to discuss their selections for 6th form study and ensure they were fully informed as to the type of courses on offer to them.

I was so proud this week to hear about our Year 8 girl’s netball team who beat Plymouth High on Monday 9-1, thank you to Mrs Law for training such a good team.  Our Year 8 boys football were beaten by Stoke Damerel after a valiant effort, the boys showed real resilience and led by Mr Hunt came away proud of their efforts.

This week saw the start of our collaboration with Plymouth Albion Rugby team in the Ready for Rugby programme.  The programme is designed to develop literacy skills in conjunction with Plymouth Albion.  Teegan Minkley delivered a quality after school session to some of our Year 7 and 8 students as part of the programme, covering Rucking and Mauling, all the students expressed what a great session it had been.

Over the past few weeks I have been running a competition to design the school’s Christmas card for this year.  After much deliberation I chose 2 designs of which nearly 300 will be printed and sent.  I was astounded by the quality and effort that had gone in to all the cards submitted and will be presenting each student who entered with a small prize.  I will announce the overall winners next week and apprehensively look forward to the lengthy task of writing all 300 cards myself!
