Principal's Blog 28th September 2018
Our term is well and truly underway and the school has been a hive of activity. Year 7 have certainly had a busy week, not only have they been outdoor and adventurous at the Broadleas residential, but they have also been taking part in Bikeability.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather as our excited Year 7 students set out for a night away from home with their new friends and teachers. The week has proved a real success with lots of teambuilding activities in the great outdoors and nights spent sat around the camp fire, toasting marshmallows. What a great start to life at Lipson and opportunity to really bond with friends and get to know Heads of Guild. I would like to thank Mr Goodman and the Heads of Guild for organising such a fantastic trip, which I’m sure will be repeated due to its success.
Bikeability has proved rewarding again this year for both students and staff involved and offers experience and vital cycling skills to our young people. Again we have been very lucky with the weather and all the students and staff have thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We will welcome our Year 7 parents into school next Wednesday as part of the on-going important transition to secondary school life. We want to create really good relationships with parents and share all the successes our younger students have had so far, as well as answering any questions or queries parents may have as a result of the first few weeks at Lipson.
Staff held a Bake Off coffee morning on Thursday in aid of Macmillan cancer support. An impressive £117 was raised for this worthwhile charity. Titles will be awarded for ‘Star Baker’ and ‘Show Stopper’ next week.
