Principal's Blog 4th May 2018
As the academic year flies by Year 11 are busy preparing for their forthcoming GCSE examinations. Attendance at revision sessions and study café has been very impressive. We are all now looking forward to the ‘Year 11 Good Luck Assembly’ on 10th May. This is often an emotional affair, looking back at how our young people have grown and matured during their time at Lipson. It is an opportunity to celebrate all they have achieved whilst being here whilst looking forward with enthusiasm at what the future holds for them.
Following the hard work ahead with exams, students can look forward to celebrating in style at the Prom on 3rd July at Boringdon Golf Club. This is always a fantastic and well attended event.
Miss Geraghty had a very successful Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice last weekend, a full write up of which is enclosed in the Lipson Weekly News. We wish her and the students undertaking the Bronze award all the very best of luck for their practice next weekend. Hopefully they will have better weather than the silver award students.
It won’t be long until our first Enrichment Day’s take place from 27th June. There is a real buzz of excitement from students looking forward to all the amazing activities that are planned. Can I remind you that all payments for the activities are due in today.
Year 10 will be undertaking work experience from the week beginning 25th June. Students have all been issued with a form to book their placements. This is a really important part of our students’ education and gives them a real insight into the world of work, maturity and social responsibility. We would encourage as many students as possible to try and find their own placements but staff are at hand to help if they need it.
The weather is set to be warm and sunny, which makes a real change for a bank holiday. I urge you all to make the very best of it and get out and enjoy the beautiful area in which we live.
Have a lovely weekend.
