Celebration Evening is one of my favourite nights of the year and we started the week of with this event recognising over 200 students and their achievements I am always so immensely proud of the achievements and hard work of our young people and the dedication shown by parents and staff to enable them to fulfil their goals. In a time when headlines in the press and reports published from various organisations can sometimes create an unfair and negative picture of young people and fail to appreciate the dedication and commitment of staff working in schools, it was a particularly pleasant exercise to reflect on what we have achieved over the last 12 months.

Keeping up to date with our students’ achievements, it was lovely to receive an email detailing the progress and success of our national swimmer –Arjun. Here he is pictured with the Lord Mayor receiving an award.

‘Bikeability’ has been a real success over the past 2 weeks-many of our year 7 students have shown real grit and determination to complete this cycling proficiency, which has seen them gain practical skills and keen understanding of how to cycle on today’s roads. As a keen cyclist myself I have been incredibly proud and pleased at the skills and confidence our young people have gained.

We are very much looking forward to the Wranglers pantomime next week-this year will see Cinderella being performed in our Muse theatre by the award winning amateur dramatic company. Many of our students are part of the group and I am always incredible impressed by how talented our young people are when performing in these productions.
